You

You’re a little different… or maybe a lot different.

You’re seeking more out of life than mainstream American society implies is possible. Perhaps you’ve always felt that there’s some piece missing but you can’t quite put your finger on it, or you feel you have a calling but you haven’t discovered it yet.

You feel things strongly. Music, beauty, & nature can bring you to tears, as can witnessing injustice. You might experience sensations beyond those of our five senses or be highly empathic. You may have been told that you feel things too much, or that you *are* too much.

You wonder if there’s anyone else out there like you.

You’ve likely found nourishment through yoga, dance, meditation, plant medicines, or nature connection, but you’re not sure how to integrate and deepen those experiences.

Maybe you’re looking for a better way to live with anxiety, depression, a trauma history, or an illness you can’t make sense of. Maybe you’re not sure what’s wrong, but you know things just aren’t quite right.

You’re dissatisfied somehow and you’re ready for change, but you might not be sure whether you need therapy, different self-care, energy work, or just a really long vacation.

You’re not interested in cookie-cutter therapy - either you’ve tried it and it didn’t work for you, or you’ve never had success doing anything by-the-book. You need something beyond a mental health tune-up: you need soul-tending.

I’m so glad you’re here.

Me

I’m Kallie, and I’m different too.

I have lived experiences of chronic pain that didn’t make any sense, of always feeling a bit different in ways that I didn’t know how to articulate, of being told that I’m too sensitive for my own good, of feeling a profound pain and confusion at how mainstream society operates.

So I’ve dedicated my professional life to helping folks who are different, too.

I studied social work so that I could understand how and why mainstream society causes some people so much pain.

I worked on research teams exploring genetic factors in the development of depression to better understand why some of us are more likely to struggle than others.

I became a licensed therapist to demonstrate my commitment to helping people ethically and with the highest standard of evidence-based therapeutic modalities.

I became a yoga teacher to learn how to authentically lead an ancient practice that has been profoundly healing to so many people over thousands of years.

I’ve attended dozens of conferences, retreats, workshops, and trainings on Adventure Therapy, group facilitation, Reiki, sound healing, deep nature connection, and meditation to deepen my knowledge.

I’ve traveled the world, lived with an Indegenous community in the jungle for weeks, sat and sung with the land, and moved to an Ashram to broaden my understanding of the human condition.

I enrolled in an intensive Mystery School where I’m learning to listen to nature in a completely different, decolonized way.

With the help of master teachers, I’ve gone deeply into my own shadow work and learned to navigate in my own darkness, so that navigating your darkness doesn’t scare me.

All of this is to say, I have unique tools to offer unique people dealing with unique problems. Whether you are living with chronic pain, reconciling trauma, struggling with anxiety or depression, or questioning what it all means, it would be a privilege to walk part of your journey alongside you.

An Experiential Approach to Wellness

We humans learn best by doing. Most Western psychotherapy approaches focus on the mind, hoping that changing thoughts will lead to changed behaviors and feelings. This approach can work well for some folks, but for many of us it feels incomplete because it neglects the physical and spiritual aspects of our humanity. Experiential therapy invites all parts of you into the process by engaging the body, mind, emotions, and spirit in your healing journey. Together we’ll decide what activity would be most helpful to you each session. We’ll engage in that activity together in a mindful, trauma-informed way and have deep, reflective conversion, weaving together relevant threads from Evidence Based Practices like Adventure Therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and somatic trauma therapy.

We can’t solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.
— Albert Einstein

Therapy as unique as you are

You are magnificent in your uniqueness

and your approach to wellness should honor that uniqueness. You are welcome at Akasha, no matter what challenge you are currently facing. All ability levels, health statuses, races, ethnicities, gender identities, sexual orientations, relationship styles, family structures, body types, socioeconomic statuses, religious/spiritual identities, nationalities, immigration statuses, and lifestyle choices are celebrated here.

Each time we meet, we’ll craft an experience as unique as you are.

Session length, frequency, location, and activity are all customized for you. Sometimes it makes the most sense to meet for an hour, sometimes a half-day is needed, and sometimes a weekend retreat is what’s right. We’ll decide together whether to meet virtually, indoors, or outside, and we’ll find the right balance of individual and/or group sessions.

There’s no right way to do therapy - together we’ll create your way.
